✨ The Constellation (Skill Tree)

The Constellation represents your cognitive potential. It is a dynamic talent tree where you spend your Skill Points (earned at each level up) to forge your own learning path and unlock unique specializations.

01

Overview

Your mental map of expertise

The Constellation is the equivalent of a Skill Tree in role-playing games. As you progress on Skillwaker, you earn the ability to illuminate new stars, each representing an acquired theoretical concept, a mastered tool, or a permanent passive buff.

🎮
In technical terms: The Constellation is an interactive Skill Tree (directed acyclic graph) mapping your technical skills (Hard Skills) and transversal skills (Soft Skills). It is the customization engine for your learning path, publicly visible on your Awakened Record (Profile) for recruiters.

Unlike classic linear courses, the Constellation gives you choice. You decide which branches of knowledge to explore first based on your career goals — each illuminated star boosts your employability and your rank on the Leaderboard.

💡
Did you know? The Skillwaker Constellation covers technical fields (development, design, data, cybersecurity…) and soft skills (management, communication, leadership). A complete tree can contain hundreds of stars.

03

Anatomy of the Tree

Understanding the connections

The Constellation is not random: it follows a logical branching structure. You start in the center with fundamental skills and branch outwards toward ultra-specialization.

🎮
In technical terms: The tree uses a directed acyclic graph (DAG) model with hierarchical prerequisites. Each node has one of three states: locked, available, or acquired. Navigation relies on an interactive pan & zoom engine (pinch-to-zoom on mobile, scroll-wheel on desktop).

The 3 states of a star

Grey Stars (Locked)

Inaccessible skills. You must first unlock the prerequisite node on the branch to make them available.

🟢 Highlighted Stars (Available)

Prerequisite met: you can invest a Skill Point to acquire this star.

Illuminated Stars (Acquired)

Permanently validated skills. They shine brightly on your tree and are added to your Awakened Record.

Node Types

TypeIconCharacteristicExample
Standard Node🌌Validates theoretical or practical knowledge"CSS Variables", "React Hooks"
Passive NodeApplies a permanent bonus to the account+2% Gold, −5% Mana cost
Major Node🌟Specialization shown on the public Profile"React Expert", "Cloud Architect"
Active vs. Passive Nodes: Most nodes validate a piece of knowledge (active), but Passive Nodes permanently modify your account: gold generation buffs, mana cost reduction, XP multipliers... Unlock them early to maximize their returns over time.
04

Earning and Spending Points

The currency of your evolution

To light up a star in the Skillwaker Constellation, you need Skill Points (SP). Every SP represents a strategic investment in your professional future.

🎮
In technical terms: SPs are a scarce resource with permanent allocation. Every invested point is permanent (unless reset via the Hourglass of the Void). The system encourages strategic planning of your path rather than random progression.

Sources of Skill Points (SP)

SourceSP EarnedFrequency
⬆️ Level Up1 SPEvery time you level up
🐉 Boss Reward1 bonus SPEnd of a complex module
🏆 Achievements1 SPRare achievements only

How to spend your points?

1
Spot an available star

Navigate the map and find stars highlighted in green or gold — these are nodes whose prerequisites are met.

2
Click the star

A modal window opens with the skill description, its type (standard, passive, major), and its detailed effects.

3
Confirm the investment

Confirm to spend 1 SP and permanently illuminate the star. The skill is immediately added to your Profile.

⚠️
Warning: SP investment is permanent. To respec your tree, you will need to acquire the Hourglass of the Void from the Inventory Shop. Plan your path before spending!
05

Passive Nodes & Effects

Permanent buffs that speed up your progress

Scattered throughout the Constellation, Passive Nodes are special stars that, once lit, apply a permanent modifier to your account. Unlike standard nodes that validate knowledge, Passives directly alter your game mechanics.

🎮
In technical terms: Passive Nodes are permanent account modifiers (buffs). Once acquired, they apply a multiplier or flat reduction to progression mechanics (XP, Gold, Mana). Their effect is stackable: the more you unlock, the faster your overall progression speed.

Catalog of Passive Effects

Passive EffectBonusImpact
✨ XP Amplifier+X% XP per quizSpeeds up leveling and SP gain
🪙 Gold Prospector+X% Gold earnedIncreases funds for the Shop
🔮 Mana Channeling−X% Mana costAllows you to clear more Raid Portals
🔥 Streak Endurance+X% Streak toleranceReduces the risk of losing your daily streak
👑
Awakened Strategy: Passive effects stack with the bonuses from the Awakened (Premium) subscription. A Premium player who unlocks several Passives enjoys a significantly higher progression speed.
06

Specializations & Profile

Show off your talents to recruiters

The Constellation is not just a game: it is a tool for enhancing your employability. The choices you make shape your professional showcase on Skillwaker.

🎮
In technical terms: Specializations act as gamified micro-credentials. They appear in the "Validated Skills" section of your public Profile and are indexed by the Skillwaker recruiter search engine. The more you collect, the higher your profile ranks in search results.

The Major Nodes (located at the ends of major branches) are Specializations. The moment you unlock one of these nodes, that specialization appears as a badge of honor on your Awakened Record (Profile) and is publicly visible to recruiters (if your Open to Work status is active).

🌟

Acquired Specialization

Badge visible on your public Profile. Verifiable proof of your expertise in a specific domain — recognized by partner recruiters.

💼

Recruiter Visibility

Activate the Open to Work mode to make your Specializations visible in recruiter searches and boost your employability.

07

Build Strategy

Three approaches to optimize your tree

Like in the best RPGs, there is no universal "best build". Your strategy depends on your career goals and learning style.

🎯 Specialist Build

Focus all your SP on a single branch to reach the Major Node quickly. Ideal if you are targeting a specific role or field.

🌐 Generalist Build

Spread your SP across multiple branches to develop a versatile profile. Perfect for managers, freelancers, or T-shaped profiles.

Optimizer Build

Prioritize Passive Nodes early on to maximize your XP and Gold gains, then specialize once your efficiency is fully buffed.

💡
Tip: You can combine these strategies. Starting with an "Optimizer" path (Passives first) followed by a "Specialist" phase is often the most efficient way to progress quickly while targeting a specific career goal.

Pro Tips & Advice

Optimize your learning build

🎯
Plan your path: Take time to scan the entire Constellation before spending your first points. Identify the Major Node that matches your career project and trace the shortest path backwards.
📈
Seek out Passives early: Passive skills (boosting Gold gen, reducing Mana costs, or amplifying XP) are extremely profitable if unlocked early in your adventure. They pay for themselves over time and speed up every subsequent session.
🔄
Keep spare SP: Don't always spend every single Skill Point. New branches are regularly added to the Constellation — keeping 2 or 3 SP in reserve allows you to seize new opportunities as soon as they drop.
⚔️
Combine Quizzes and Constellation: After a successful run of Raid Portals, check if you gained a level and an SP. Invest it right away to enjoy its effects in your very next session.
👑
Become Awakened: Premium subscription grants you unlimited Mana to chain quizzes and level up faster — meaning more SP and a Constellation that lights up at a blazing speed. Visit the Subscription page to compare plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the Skillwaker Constellation

Can I reset my Skill Points in the Skillwaker Constellation?

Yes. If you wish to respec (for example, switching from backend dev to UX design), you can purchase the Hourglass of the Void from the Inventory Shop. This item completely resets your tree and refunds all your SP so you can reinvest them freely.

Is it possible to unlock everything in the Skillwaker Constellation?

Technically, yes. The tree is designed so that at a very high level (Endgame), you will have accumulated enough SP to light every star. However, doing so requires hundreds of hours of practice and validated quizzes. This is why early specialization is recommended to maximize your professional impact quickly.

What happens if a new domain is added to the Skillwaker Constellation?

The Constellation is ever-expanding (Live Service). During a content update, new branches are grafted onto the existing tree without affecting what you've already unlocked. You can spend any hoarded SP on these new nodes — another reason not to spend them all immediately.

How do I earn Skill Points quickly on Skillwaker?

SP are mostly earned by leveling up (1 SP per Level Up). To speed up your leveling, chain Raid Portals with a high Combo, keep your daily Streak active, and use Scrolls of Knowledge (+50% XP) before intensive sessions.

Are the Skillwaker Constellation skills visible to recruiters?

Yes, provided you activate Open to Work mode. Your Specializations (unlocked Major Nodes) then appear as validated skills on your Awakened Record (Profile), which can be seen by partner recruiters in their search results.

What is a Passive Node in the Skillwaker Constellation?

A Passive Node is a special star that, once unlocked, applies a permanent buff to your account: increased XP yields, reduced Mana costs, Gold multipliers, etc. These effects stack and stay active indefinitely — making them the most profitable long-term investments.

What is the difference between a Standard Node and a Major Node in Skillwaker?

A Standard Node validates a specific granular skill (e.g., "CSS Flexbox") and adds to your internal technical arsenal. A Major Node, found at the end of a branch, represents a full Specialization (e.g., "React Expert") that publicly displays on your Profile as a badge of validated expertise.
